I have always advocate that science and the scientist must be the number one issue to follow over the years. I had read my first science related document in 1960’s , when I could get a chance to reach two comic and even colored books, one was about robots aother on space. Since then I have been very keen to follow sientific staffs; movies, books, fairs etc.
Since everything written or produced in English I have bought books and magazines like American Scientist, Discover, MIT Technology Review, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, New Scientist, Science News, Scientific American, Physics Today, Scientific American, Mind, The Scientist, Skeptic each and every opportunities mostly from bookstores and convenienece stores at airports. I have beleived and hopes everything wrtitten on those publications and the future forecasts like living on Mars, gene editing, gene-edited super genious babies…
When read Kurzweil’s “Singularity is Near, year 2004” I have beleived or tend to believe what Ray wrote about future development year by year. Later Ray keeps updating his prediction such as by the year 2030 computer will supercede the human brain, human cortex will be linked with computer, hat merging is the essence of the Singularity, an era in which our intelligence will become increasingly nonbiological and trillions of times more powerful than it is today – the dawning of a new civilization that will enable us to transcend our biological limitations and amplify our creativity. In this new world, there will be no clear distinction between human and machine, real reality and virtual reality. We will be able to assume different bodies and take on a range of personae at will. In practical terms, human aging and illness will be reversed; pollution will be stopped; world hunger and poverty will be solved. Nanotechnology will make it possible to create virtually any physical product using inexpensive information processes and will ultimately turn even death into a soluble problem… There are lots of futuristics giving speeches and writing books, essay even far more than these predictions.
And USA has been considered the center and driving force for those inventions, creations because of having top universities,Harvard, MIT, Princeton, CalTech, UFL.. research centers and the ability to attract and retain a huge number of the world’s best and brightest and money.
But something happened this year, one can not say not unexpected because subject has covered in lots of Hollywood movies even exactly the same subject, like Contagion by Sğielberg in 2011, in which healthcare professionals, government officials and everyday people found themselves in the midst of a pandemic as the CDC works to find a cure. Countless numbers of Labs making researches on the subject with thousands PhD and most brilliant brains in the world. Thousands of articles issued on very famous magazines, aloocated billions of dollars…
And Covid-19 showed up, just 100 nano-meter length and 25-30K nucleotides so small comparing with simple homo sapiens which has a 3.2 billions. At the beginning the top health organization with thousands of workers, researchers from all countries WHO could not get the danger. China first hit by but they quickly wriggled out and distributed the virus to the world on the sly starting from the most developed countries in Europe than in USA.
